The Berlin Wall Memorial and Documentation Center is a unique and impressive place in Berlin dedicated to the moving history of the Berlin Wall and its profound impact.

This museum was opened in 1999 and is located on the historic site where the sad and famous Wall once divided the city. Here, visitors can immerse themselves in a time that shaped the fate of the city and its people for decades.

The exhibitions in the memorial and documentation center offer a fascinating and at the same time harrowing journey through the history of the Berlin Wall, from its sudden construction in 1961 to its equally dramatic end in 1989. The diverse exhibits, including photos, films, historical documents and personal memorabilia, allow visitors to understand the fates of the people during the time of the division of Berlin at first hand.

A special part of the memorial is also dedicated to the memory of those who lost their lives in their desperate attempt to overcome the Wall and regain their freedom.
